Tattoos Vol2

Use the following questions as a guide:

a. What is the key issue that the photo shows?

b. How are tattoos stereotyped in different societies? Refer to The Maori culture (New Zealand), USA and Chile.

c. How important or relevant are tattoos for some people in defining their individuality or identity?

d. Why are tattoos considered / not considered Art?

The key used in this picture is the jacket which shows and hide the tattoos, it shows to public the tattoos which this guy has in its arms.

In the case of Chile tattoos are seen as something bad, means like you been on jail or you're a criminal, same thing happends on USA as Debate.org says: "Are tattoos negatively stereotyped on USA" 87% says yes.In NZ is different heres a quote from http://www.hrmonline.co.nz/news says:
" Claire Nathan told Maori TV show Native Affairs that she applied for what she described as her ‘dream job’ in January, and her interview last month initially went well. However, when asked to fill out a form that required her to declare the traditional Maori tattoo on her lower arm, things took a turn for the worse." She coulnd't cover the tattoo so she coudn't get the job.

Heres my recent blog which represent this question Tattoos represent severals stuff, most likely representing the thing that a human want or did, here's an example "Harm None" and in between the two words is the symbol for the three phases of the moon, which also represent past, present and future, it's more than an art or fashion style in the people who do this it is a symbol for the people who have tattoos, also cultural because of the meaning which the tattoos represent, could be different for many people, depending on the culture here's another example of people opinions:
"the tear drop used to mean you had killed someone, then it came to mean you had killed someone while incarcerated. in australia it means something totally different. they mark child molesters with that so everyone knows what they did and you can feel free to beat the daylights out of them"

Is tattoos a art? Well they are in a skin script so they could be classifed as art, for other people could means symbol like god or devil most likely is that or means something that happend to you earlier.
Heres a quote from TheGuardian.com
"A blue and red flowering, sinuous, inky design written permanently into the skin of bare legs may be eye-catching – but is it art? Amy Savage thinks so. She explains how she got the tattoos on the backs of her legs from Xam, a noted tattoo artist who works at London's Exmouth Market. She and companion Eddie Boxell, who has equally rich and beautiful tattoos covering most of his left arm, "collect" their tattoos from noted practitioners: "It's an art thing, a collecting thing," says Boxell."
