Tattoos Vol2

Use the following questions as a guide:

a. What is the key issue that the photo shows?

b. How are tattoos stereotyped in different societies? Refer to The Maori culture (New Zealand), USA and Chile.

c. How important or relevant are tattoos for some people in defining their individuality or identity?

d. Why are tattoos considered / not considered Art?

The key used in this picture is the jacket which shows and hide the tattoos, it shows to public the tattoos which this guy has in its arms.

In the case of Chile tattoos are seen as something bad, means like you been on jail or you're a criminal, same thing happends on USA as Debate.org says: "Are tattoos negatively stereotyped on USA" 87% says yes.In NZ is different heres a quote from http://www.hrmonline.co.nz/news says:
" Claire Nathan told Maori TV show Native Affairs that she applied for what she described as her ‘dream job’ in January, and her interview last month initially went well. However, when asked to fill out a form that required her to declare the traditional Maori tattoo on her lower arm, things took a turn for the worse." She coulnd't cover the tattoo so she coudn't get the job.

Heres my recent blog which represent this question Tattoos represent severals stuff, most likely representing the thing that a human want or did, here's an example "Harm None" and in between the two words is the symbol for the three phases of the moon, which also represent past, present and future, it's more than an art or fashion style in the people who do this it is a symbol for the people who have tattoos, also cultural because of the meaning which the tattoos represent, could be different for many people, depending on the culture here's another example of people opinions:
"the tear drop used to mean you had killed someone, then it came to mean you had killed someone while incarcerated. in australia it means something totally different. they mark child molesters with that so everyone knows what they did and you can feel free to beat the daylights out of them"

Is tattoos a art? Well they are in a skin script so they could be classifed as art, for other people could means symbol like god or devil most likely is that or means something that happend to you earlier.
Heres a quote from TheGuardian.com
"A blue and red flowering, sinuous, inky design written permanently into the skin of bare legs may be eye-catching – but is it art? Amy Savage thinks so. She explains how she got the tattoos on the backs of her legs from Xam, a noted tattoo artist who works at London's Exmouth Market. She and companion Eddie Boxell, who has equally rich and beautiful tattoos covering most of his left arm, "collect" their tattoos from noted practitioners: "It's an art thing, a collecting thing," says Boxell."

In my opinion I wouldn't do any tattoo because it is a waste of time and money and I don't belive in any culture that represent via tattoos it is illogical etheir ethical a tattoo means nothing for me just a waste of skin
Without mentioning a big list of diseases which involves the tattoos like hepatitis or Aids for using the wrong equipment or for not cleaning them.

Here's an example of a tattoo.

I celebrated my birthday on a English-speaking country

Here's my history.....

I was on a tour by Jamaica when turns out it was my birthday, so I had to celebrate it in the jamaican way, I was on the hotel and I asked the receptionist on the hall way and he said to me that there was a tradition and I will celebreate it today at the pool of the hotel.

When I got there they were singing and dancing reggae music, a jamaican song and they told me that I had to put on my body flour of baking, that was the famous tradition of Jamaica, a crazy one, so I agreed while listening reggae songs and the beats of those jamaican guys dancing. It was the best birthday ever, everyone were dancing for me, it was awesome

  Here's a remember.

Extra Work

Activity 1
1 I have been part of discrimination on the society because people hate because of the way I am, most likely class discrimination they say I'm poor and ugly and people make fun of me making jokes which I hate and they laugh all day, also racial discrimination because I'm black skin and people on my school do not like black peple I don't know why, it's racism.

2 I can feel what John feels it is really bad to be rejected from the society it feels bad. Everyday when you wake up you dont really want to wake up because you know it will be the same everyday and it will not change and people will no like you from 1 day to another so you have you make strategic plans, long turn plan you got to change the way you like. Laugh with him not of him, that's a really famous quote.

Activity 2

3 Now I'm about to go to sleep, my day was very bad people made fun of me everytime and I'm tired. I hate being so dumb and ugly I would love to be an alpha so I could be happy and people would love me and care about me like if I were some important guy, well this is my life that took me on and for now on I have to make changes and stop being like this. I have to change.

4 In my opinion they do not decide who they are because the are created by someone else and it could be called luck if you are an alpha because its the best human being in te brave new world. In the way of Epsilons it could be called bad luck because they are the dumbest people in the brave new world and they don't have the ability which alpha's have, they can think same way but they do realize they area waste on that world, they do not work as alpha's.

Brave New World Questions 4-5

1) Because, where Brave New World is based on, there's wasn't a clear

definition of loyalty and fidelity. In those days, many people had more than

one couple, but perhaps not because they were "bad", but just because of some

sort of "tradition" or "unknowledge" about the importance of that issue. In

many parts of the novel we could base ourselves to tell this, just like where

Lenina said that she was bored with Henry. Because of this, we could start

thinking that in this place there's no real understanding of what love (or

loyalty/fidelity, as I told before) means.

"She was publicly proving her unfaithfulness to Henry" is the exact quote that

demonstrates what it happened. In this place, the most important thing of all

it to follow the rules and don't think at all. As the Romans said, there are just

to needs of the people: bread and circuses. Until the point where people don't

think, then there's no risk at a

ll

2) No, of course it's not natural. The idea of the government is to control

people, and what better thing to do that to make people to be mere individuals.

Groups are dangerous. Hopefully humans had as much couples as possible, so

they didn't have a real relationship with any of them.

In the chapter 3 there's a clear message about the world: "Their world didn't

allow them to take things easily, didn't allow them to be sane, virtuous,

happy." We can't be happy if we are not free. In this case, we are imposed

things, "traditions" that take from us the little piece of freedom we are

supposed to have as humans. Even if I'm not entirely free to do whatever I

want, at least I've got the idea of what freedom is, and I can fight for it. And, in

the case of the Brave New World, the government doesn't want that to happen,

and they will try to stop it at any cost.

3) Pneumatic is quite a powerful word to describe someone. You don't really

know if it's something good or bad. There are some theories that say that in

this case, it means that Lenina is curvy and sexy. But also it could mean that

she's just "full of air", as the dictionary defines pneumatic. What could it mean

this last definition? I think that perhaps it makes relation with a person that's

completely empty in its inside.

4) It is a drug, consumed by people to escape from reality. They might want to

hide sadness or fear, for example. It is supposed to have no side effects, apart

of course from making you as less human as possible. "One cubic centimeter

cures ten gloomy..." in chapter 4 is where they talk about it. It's something

powerful, but consumed without really thinking of what can happen with it.

5) Bernard was a short man, as shown in chapter 4 "I have stood eight

centimeters short of the standard Alpha height". But this wasn't taken

superficially by Bernard, as he felt really uncomfortable with this. His physical

characteristic made for him life quite more tough, as he was different to all the

rest. He felt observed by others. As demonstrated in the next quote, in this

world it was no good to be different: "For gammas, deltas, and Epsilons had

been to some extent conditioned to associate corporeal prejudice in favor of

size was universal. Hence the laughter of the women to whom I have made

proposals, the practical joking of his equals among the men. The mockery

made him feel an outsider
".

Ignoring The Bananas....

5) Suggest synonyms for the following words.

Showcased A setting in which someone or something may be displayed, especially to advantage

Confines To shut or keep in, especially to imprison.

Rife In widespread existence, practice, or use; increasingly prevalent

Powerhouse One that possesses great force or energy

Demeanour he way a person behaves towards others; conduct

Company Contaminates The Touristic Sea Of Reñaca

Now it looks this way.

Reñaca- A big company called "Suprema" which produces chicken was caught contaminating the gorgeous sea of Reñaca which millions of tourist people see every year.

Everyday this company throws trash into the sea and if it keeps going for 1 year the sea will turn black, and this represents a bad point of view for the tourists.

Suprema makes chicken but in this process it produces "arsenico" which is a poison that kill any animal in  few hours. In this case underwater life on sea world is going to die in Reñaca with this poison it is mortal to humans beings also, so any human being who gets into the water of Reñaca could suffer a serious problem in their skin.

Traditionally Reñaca stands for a gorgeous place for tourists and this is one of the main reasons why you can't contaminate it. The visitors will stop coming if they realize that the sea is contaminated and looks ugly it will cause a bad impression.
The manager of the hotel Richie Rich which is located in the third sector of playa reñaca; John Bolcom, says "When this company started contaminating the tourists stopped coming to this hotel because the water is contaminated, ugly and uncomfortable. They've to stop this madness"

This is true because many people didn't come back just for this problem.
